On Location in HK

Hong Kong cinema has always been distinctly recognisable with its unique locations: the cityscape are emblematic of Bruce Lee kung fu moves, Jackie Chan stunts, John Woo action scenes and moody romantic shots from Wong Kar Wai. “@ location” is a new exhibition that provides a behind-the-scenes look at on-site location filming in Hong Kong. With mock-up scenes of famous film locations, interviews, clips and photographs, this exhibition will take you on a ride revealing the legendary figures and cinematic miracles that have made Hong Kong cinema what it is today. Until Jun 4. Mon-Sun, 10am-8pm (closed on Thu). Exhibition Hall, HK Film Archive, 50 Lei King Road, Sai Wan Ho, 2739-2739. www.filmarchive.gov.hk.

The Sound of Nature

Apr 1-8: The Guzheng – or Zheng – is a traditional elongated Chinese instrument made of wood consisting of 21 strings. Like a horizontal harp, the playing technique involves being plucked by both hands. Bringing up connotations of nature, the sound is tranquilly soothing - at times sounding like a cascading waterfall, thunder or even the scenic countryside. The Hong Kong Zheng festival is a celebration of this wonderful instrument featuring concerts, seminars and even a make-you-own Zheng workshop. Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall, 10 Salisbury Rd., Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon.

Tickets through Urbtix 2734-9009. Xu Lingzi - Poetry, painting and Zheng music - Apr 4, 7:30pm ($150). Make Your Own Zheng Workshop - Apr 1-2, 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm ($1500). Emotions Recollected in Tranquillity - Apr 7-8, 8pm ($100-$200).
